Cancun

I promised the girls I would blog about our Cancun trip, a trip we will never forget.

We chose Cancun as our summer destination this last summer.  I was originally planning a trip back east to take the family to Hill Cumorah Pageant and Niagara Falls, but it was pretty booked by the time I got to it, and this Cancun trip ended up being less expensive and fabulous.

Beautiful view from our window.  We stayed in a Villa at the Westin Lagunamar.  I spent some time researching and asking friends about nice places to stay.  I would definitely stay here again, especially if you have more then 4 people.  We didn’t do the all inclusive since we would’ve had to get two rooms, and we had excursions almost every day, which usually included meals.

Reading the rest of Elizabeth Smart book (towards the end of our trip).  I paraphrased some of the book to the kids, such a terrible thing that happened to her and she remained so strong!  Our new hero!

We were lucky to see the USA Soccer team at the Texas airport as we were leaving, they were heading to a tournament in Mexico.  They signed our girls ball and posed for a picture.  My girls were thrilled!! Soccer girls stick together!

Last Summer Vacay…

Heading to that beautiful lake behind us, we love Bear Lake in August!

Let’s get this thing wet! 

Our good friends brought their boat, we took care of the housing.  Our condos/timeshare here is one of my favorites, right across from the turquoise lake, the kids enjoyed tennis, swimming, steak BBQ, games, and of course the yummy fresh Raspberry Shakes at LaBeus.

They had all the toys for this water mecca.  Trevor was a natural his first time wakeboarding (he usually slalems), jumping the wakes, turning backwards, cutting, it was fun to watch.  Paul still has it with his deep cuts and sharp turns, even though he left his brace (dang, bad knee), way to go hon!  The girls popped right up on the skis and Mitch did awesome on the airchair!

Kimi and Sophie, the water was GLASS!  So funny, they went cruising around a turn and Sophie was half way off the tube holding on for dear life, almost flying off when Kimi reached over, grabbed her and pulled her back on.  They were laughing so hard.  Check out those pig tails!   

Who needs a rope?  Love her smile and sense of humor!

We’re going in!  Fun times with great friends.

A little chilly inside, but awesome!

End of summer bash, now it’s time to start school and hit the books.  Summer flew by this year, but the kids are getting excited to start a new school year.  Trevor’s starting High School (it’s brand new), and Sophie and Sage are excited for 4th grade.

Refreshing!  The girls aren’t supposed to swim much before a game (coach’s orders, relaxes the muscles), so they get 20-30 minutes pool time until after their games.

 

Stunning view of the Olympic Ski Jumps from the townhouse.  The other side is charming with good restaurants, shops, movie theater, bowling alley, etc.  Great accommodations.

We treated them to a fun activity, since the boys were so supportive to come to each game and cheer their sisters and the team on, plus we were celebrating Josh’s high school graduation (yahoo, post coming).  Unanimous- they chose the Alpine Slide.

12 more days before Josh leaves on his mission, can’t say enough how much we’re going to miss this kid, but we’re very happy for him!

A day in Paradise

We took the Catamaran Sail, Snorkel, & Beach Party excursion, fun for all!

It had a neat stairway into the crystal clear ocean.

The snorkeling and beach excursion was the highlight of the vacation for the kids, so stunning seeing the tropical fish and awesome coral formations (Josh was bummed he forgot his GoPro, oh well, at least there was a photographer on board)

It was unanimous… Best. Vacation. Ever. 

Since Josh is leaving on his mission soon, then college right after, we planned this special vacation while we’re all together.  Great memories we’ll never forget.
