One invitation, two girls…

At the beginning of the school year, being in separate classes, I tried to prepare the girls for the time that only one of them would be invited to a B-day party, also a heads up for separate field trips, activities, class parties, etc. Up until now, we’ve lucked out and they’ve both been invited together, they have many of the same friends. Unfortunately, Sage was the one getting the mail the other day and came running to me asking where hers was. She handed me the invitation addressed to Sophie… after a few tears and me reminding her that this would happen, and sometimes it will happen the other way around, she sadly asked Sophie if she could bring her home a piece of cake. So some quick thinking and a plan B for Sage...

The next best thing to a birthday party is a play date with one of your BFF's.

Sophie had a blast at the party, and Sage wasn't a bit sad when we dropped Sophie off. She had a great time with Aspen making cookies, jumping on the tramp, and playing Basketball- all smiles! Sophie brought home a balloon for her sis and they shared the good times they had. A good plan that I’m sure to use in the future.

If I had your e-mail, I'd e-mail you, but I just had share some wonderful news with someone who can relate! Our sweet little Maya Qiu Ju has the same special need as one of your little girls. I recall making a comment on a post that you wrote months ago about your daughter's great news. I was so happy for her, although admittedly a little envious that my own daughter was needing treatment and was having such a hard time.

Maya just finished her year of weekly injections and the doctor was "completely stunned" by the results. Undetectable viral load and seroconversion! We're thrilled beyond measure! The doctor had previously talked about terminating treatment early because it obviously wasn't working. What a miracle!

Eileen,
I'm so glad you shared that with me. What wonderful news! It gives me chills and truly is a miracle, being something that normally isn't curable. Weekly injections, that had to be tough on poor Maya, and you. I am delighted to hear the results and reminded at how blessed we are. Another example of how a special child given nurture, love, a family & home will thrive. God is good! Thanks for sharing your awesome news!

As a twin I can soooo relate to your post. I was the more outgoing twin, my sister was so painfully shy. I was the one that got all the invites while she stayed home with Mom. She loved having that 1 on 1 time with my mom that when she did finally get invites she usually decided not to go and stay and play with our mom! My mom always tried to make sure we knew that we are 2 indivuals and that we woudn't always be able to do the same things...and it was ok as long as we were comfortable with our decisions!
