Giving Back...

It tears at my heart to see these children in the orphanage go with so little. Our hearts go out to the caretakers and nannies, what special people they are, who dedicate their lives to care for and love these dear children.

We also wanted to do our little part. Many of these children have no mattresses or even blankets in their cribs, just the wood base. Can you imagine. The backs of their heads get flat from lying on them so long.

Our dear primary put together a service project and made some soft, warm, fleece blankets for us to hand deliver to our girls orphanage in Xin Yi. I am so thankful for all the children who came to help and sent their best wishes, and thank you Holly for overseeing and preparing all the blankets, that was a big job, and they are delightful!! Thanks Terri and Jen for all your help! You guys are awesome!

My oldest son also got a group together and made some very cute dolls for the children in the orphanage as part of his Eagle project. They cut, glued, curled, and painted faces on these adorable dolls. It was great seeing a group of teenage boys making dolls:), they were very helpful, although they kept sneeking off to play basketball in the gym, what can you expect. The primary kids enjoyed helping with the faces and hair, it was hard for some of them to give up their doll, but they did and knew it was for a good cause. Thank you Sally and Grandma B. for all your sewing and cutting help, what a big task, and much appreciated! I'll have to locate the pictures and post them later.

We ended up with 40 blankets, all packaged and ready to go, and 20 dolls (some need a makeover on the face, but it was fun having the kids help). I was very pleased with the projects and know they will be very appreciated, can't wait to hand deliver them!

I also have all our Thank You gifts ready to go, everything from T-shirts to Treats- Pepperidge Farm sweets and home grown honey, and nice pens and stationary. I think they'll like them. These go to the caretakers at the orphanage, our guide, driver, CCAA officials, etc.

Still no word of our TA, trying not to dwell on it. Pray for us, cross your fingers, send us your wishes that it will be here soon.
Sweet Sophie and Sage, shouldn't be much longer.

So Cute. We took 40 knit hats, that my Mother knitted. The Director was very excited to receive them. Anything that can be done for the XinyYi little ones, will be appreciated...Stacey, (Mom to Ryleigh from XingYi).....
